What I am wearing today (30 December 2014)

Today I am wearing a charcoal-gray double-breasted (6X2) woolen suit, a blue cotton shirt with French cuffs and a collar pin, a printed silk tie in red/blue/yellow, a yellow silk pocket square with blue borders, a pair of chestnut monk-strap shoes, and a vintage gold-plated Rado Voyager Automatic day/date watch in a chestnut leather strap.

Last time I wore this suit someone asked my about the buttons. The suit buttons are smoked mother of pearl.

What I am wearing today (28 December 2014)

Most of my double-breast suits have a 6X2 button configuration, i.e., there are six buttons on the outside out of which only two can be fastened. I have only two double-breasted suits with 6X1 button configuration (six buttons on the outside out of which only one button can be fastened). Today I am wearing one of the two 6X1 double-breasted suits and this one is made of medium weight wool and therefore suitable only for winter wear. I am also wearing a pink and gray striped cotton shirt with French cuffs and tabbed collar, a paisley silk tie in green and maroon, a maroon silk pocket square, and a pair of mustard-brown whole-cut oxford shoes. I am not wearing a watch today.

What I am wearing today (24 December 2014)

Today I am wearing a 3-piece small hound’s-tooth check suit. The jacket is a 2-button notch-lapel and has a ticket pocket. The waistcoat is five button with two lower pockets. With the suit I am wearing  a blue/white striped linen shirt with French cuffs, a blue/white windowpane silk tie, a Macclesfield printed silk pocket square, and a pair of black cap-toed oxford shoes. With the three-piece I am also wearing a West End “Queen Anne” pocket square in a double-Albert silver chain.

Have you noticed the suit buttons? These are laser engraved horn buttons.

After I had finished selecting today’s ensemble I realized that all the items, i.e., suit, shirt, tie, and pocket square are patterns. This is probably one of the most difficult undertaking in men’s ensemble—matching four patterns. Many people would deride such an attempt. But sometimes mixing three or more patterns could be fun. What do you think? Do you think today’s ensemble seems incongruous?
