Today I am wearing a beige 2-button notch-lapel linen suit, a blue cotton shirt with convertible cuffs, a orange silk tie with white patterns, a white linen pocket square with orange borders, a pair of brown monk-strap shoes, and a 1940 vintage Zenith 18k solid gold watch in a brown leather strap.
Hello Shahzaman,
Nice combination today! Looks very chic and relaxed. I have a question as to why you don’t put the small part of your tie securely behind the large part. Is that the proper way to wear a tie? Enlighten me please? Thank you
Rochon
Thank you Rochon for your comment. In very formal settings I would tuck the thinner end of the tie behind the wider end. Most people will wear a tie like this–at least at the beginning. This is neat. However, there is another way one could wear an ensemble. This style is carefree, maybe less concern for perfection and even engineered imperfection. This is what is called Degage or relaxed style. Too much perfection in an ensemble may mean someone is trying too hard–don’t you think so?
Ahh ok! Makes sense, especially when you have a relaxed look. Thank you Shahzaman!
